There have been a number of leaked images of the smartphones that are supposed to debut in the upcoming Mobile World Congress. One of the latest leaks is the first image of the LG Optimus 3D 2 smartphone along with its potential specs.

The image comes courtesy of OLED Display which also released some information on the phone's specifications. The rumored Optimus 3D 2 will feature a 4.3 inch HD AH-IPS display panel for better viewing angles. The Optimus 3D 2 will also have a 1.2 Ghz dual-core Texas Instruments Cortex-A9 processor, Bluetooth 3.0, a 3.5 G HSPA+ radio, dual 5 megapixel cameras with 2D to 3D conversion capabilities, a Near-Field Communication chip and runs on Google's Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

The photo of the new phone corroborates the description that it will be slimmer than the previous generation at 9.8 mm. The Optimus 3D 2 will also be 20 grams lighter which would solve the weight problem of the first Optimus 3D. The Optimus 3D was criticized for its bulky frame but it looks like LG has fixed it with the Optimus 3D 2.

LG launched the original Optimus 3D last year. The phone featured a 4.3 inch 3D LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass, a 1 Ghz dual core processor, 512 Mb of RAM, dual 5 megapixels camera and Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system. The first Optimus 3D drew attention because it was the first glasses free 3D phone. This might seem like a big deal but it garnered enough media attention that will certainly help the new Optimus 3D 2 as well.

The Optimus 3D 2 is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2012 on Korea's SK Telecom network.
