LG has officially confirmed that its next flagship handset, the LG V30, will include the world’s largest aperture and clearest lens ever to be featured in a smartphone. With its dual camera setup integrating an f/1.6 aperture with glass lens, the upcoming flagship looks to contend with the most popular camera smartphones in the market.

The LG V30’s enhancements should bring a new level of competitiveness among flagship handsets. After all, its maker is known for producing handsets with excellent cameras. Now, LG boasts of having the smartphone with the largest aperture, and it’s bound to attract a major portion of the mobile phone market.

The V30’s f/1.6 lens is the largest among current smartphone camera apertures. It takes in 25 percent more light compared to an f/1.8 lens. LG’s glass Crystal Clear Lens also enhances the flagship’s ability to absorb more light. The glass lens is not only better compared to a regular plastic lens when it comes to that undertaking, it also does a greater job with colour reproduction.

“LG boasts an unrivalled heritage in smartphone photography and our decision to adopt glass in the V30 camera is specifically because this has traditionally been the realm of DSLRs,” according to LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company president Juno Cho. “For the users for whom the V series was designed, this kind of innovation is significant.”

Needless to say, the V30 is far superior to its predecessor, the V20, in terms of photography and videography. LG believes it trumps other handsets on those categories as well. According to the LG, its upcoming flagship’s camera slashes edge distortion by a third compared to its predecessor when it comes to wide angle shots.

“Even with all these improvements, the rear camera module of the LG V30 still manages to remain svelte, 30 percent smaller in size compared to the V20,” according to the South Korean tech giant. “Paired with LG’s specialized UX featuring laser detection AF, optical image stabilisation and electronic image stabilisation, shutterbugs will find the V30 as easy and convenient to use as its predecessor.”

The LG V30 is set to launch on August 31 and is expected to be released about a month after. It will come with a 6.0-inch plastic OLED FullVision, Corning Gorilla Glass 5-protected QHD+ display with internals that include the latest Snapdragon 835 processor and 4 GB of RAM.
