Intel has already announced to bring its Xeon processors to notebook PCs for the first time ever. On Aug. 10, Lenovo launched the new ThinkPad P50 and P70 which incorporates Intel’s Skylake processors with 64 GB of RAM. The two new high performance mobile workstations are meant for professionals who need huge amount of power on the go.

At the Siggraph 2015 Conference and Exhibition, Lenovo unveiled a new family of high performance workstations. At the launch, Victor Rios, vice president and general manager, Workstations, Lenovo said, “We’ve built features into these machines that were previously unachievable in a notebook, making them the most versatile and highest-performing mobile workstations ever.” The Xeon processors powering both machines are based on Intel’s Skylake architecture.

The ultimate mobile workstation performance

The new ThinkPad P50 and P70 for the first time will be equipped with the new Intel Xeon Processor E3-1500M v5 product family. This will ensure lightning-fast performance and consistency for critical workstation applications. Lenovo has also added the brand new dual-fan FLEX Performance Cooling system. The new design will ensure faster, cooler and quieter performance. Both the laptops will come with Nvidia Quadro GPU for high quality graphics. The new P Series also combine the X-Rite Pantone color calibration for accurate colors.

ThinkPad P50 and P70

The ThinkPad P50 features a gorgeous 15.6-inch UHD 4K display. It is Lenovo’s thinnest and lightest full-function mobile workstation yet weighing 5.6 pounds. The device is certified to run the ISV applications.

The ThinkPad P70 is a 17-inch mobile workstation weighing 7.6 pounds. The P70 is loaded with up to 64GB of DDR4 ECC memory and features up to 1TB SSD drive which will offer lighting fast data access on the laptop. Moreover, the device features two Intel ThunderboltTM 3 ports for super fast connectivity.

The ThinkPad P50 will be priced at $1599 (AU $2203), whereas the price of the ThinkPad P70 will start at $1999 (AU $2754). Users will be given a choice to opt for the operating system including Windows 10, 8.1, 7, or Ubuntu. There will also be options for 4K and touch displays. The Lenovo ThinkPad P Series notebooks will go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2015.
