Razer, a billion dollar gaming hardware and software maker, has partnered with Lenovo to develop a new range of gaming PCs with far superior processing power and multiple new designs.

The collaboration will merge Lenovo’s engineering expertise with Razer’s immersive technology, thus enhancing the overall gaming experience. Both companies unveiled the first product of their joint venture, the prototype of the first-ever Razer Edition of the Lenovo Y series. The new product will assimilate Lenovo’s extensive global reach and Razer’s core gamer communities.

“This agreement opens opportunities to advance the gaming lifestyle through world-class product in unprecedented ways”, said Min-Liang Tan, co-founder and CEO at Razer.

The gaming desktop will incorporate cutting-edge graphics performance, superior processing power and peripherals designed specifically for gaming. The PC will be officially launched at the Consumer Electronics Show 2016 (CES) in Las Vegas in January 2016. The device will have multiple new designs.

“While we bring to the table our engineering expertise, design muscle and scale, Razer adds in the finesse and experience of serving the gaming community for the last decade”, said Victor Rios, Vice President and General Manager, Workstation BU, Gaming and Industry Solutions, Lenovo in a press release.

Lenovo currently offers the Y700 and Y900 desktops in the Y series. Although the association claims to “revolutionise gaming device”, the media release doesn’t specify which technology Razer brings to the partnership. The company touts a handful of proprietary software products specially designed for in-game chat, gaming audio and a cloud service for game settings, according to CNET.

Gaming seems to the stable segment in the overall but struggling PC market. The huge popularity of games has enticed tech conglomerates to invest in the gaming industry. Among the 1.8 billion gamers across the globe, 711 million are active PC gamers, according to a report in eWeek.
