In real life, Leighton Meester has lived so far in comparison to the life of her fictional character Blair Waldorf, the rich, spoiled and glamorous lady of the Upper East Side Manhattan. Leighton finally revealed some crazy family history during her photoshoot with Marie Claire.

The young actress' mother served time in federal prison for drug trafficking. Her dad was an ex-con. Despite reports that Meester was born in jail, she cleared it out and said that like most people, she was born in a hospital.

However, she was only nurtured by her mother during the first three months in a halfway house. She was raised and lived with her grandparents while her mother served what's remaining of her sentence.

"My family has a crazy history," she says in the interview. "Probably the craziest I've heard of," she said on Marie Claire.

But not all her youth was dark and gloomy as others might expect, rather it was quite the opposite. The beautiful actress talked about her early years in Florida saying it was it was uncomplicated and there happy times.

At age 10, she was discovered by an agent and moved to New York with her mother. Young Leighton ended up in various commercials for various department stores and retailers. When she was 14, she moved to Los Angeles to continue modeling where she also picked up a few TV parts.

"Jimmy doesn't like me!'Who cares? I was worried we didn't have gas money or food, the 25-year-old explains she stayed away from dating and rather focused on helping the household. "Those were my concerns."

When it comes to the $3 million lawsuit her mother filed against her, Leighton said she didn't want to talk about it and would rather focus on the positive. Constance, her mother, claims she deserves the money for all the sacrifices she made to help her daughter with her career.

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old actress just finished filming the movie "That's My Boy" with Adam Sandler and wrapped up the fifth season of Gossip Girl. The latest issue of Marie Claire will be out in April.
