The new “Legends of Tomorrow” trailer has drawn nearly five million views on YouTube a week after it was uploaded by The CW. Fans, however, have to wait until 2016 before this new show airs alongside “The Flash” and “Arrow” on The CW and “Supergirl” on CBS.

“Time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) must assemble a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat to the planet… and to time itself. DC's Legends of Tomorrow is coming soon to The CW,” reads the video description of the “Legends of Tomorrow” trailer.

“Legends of Tomorrow” chronicles the lives of a team of characters – heroes and villains – on DC Comics. “Arrow” show bosses Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim developed this series.

Speaking to Buzzfeed, Grant Gustin said “The Flash,” “Arrow” and “Legends of Tomorrow” are all “one show” in some ways. Gustin, who plays Barry Allen in “The Flash,” has appeared a number of times in “Arrow.” He said some characters in ‘Legends’ will be going through “a revolving door for all three shows.”

“Prison Break” actors Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell are both participating in “Legends of Tomorrow.” The finale of “The Flash” and the ‘Legends’ trailer give viewers a good idea of how the two would work will all the other ‘Legends’ characters. Miller plays Captain Cold, while Purcell plays Heat Wave. They first appeared in “The Flash.”

The White Canary (Caity Lotz) first appeared in “Arrow” as Sara Lance a.k.a. the Canary. Sara is killed in a Season 3 episode. This is the second time for her sister Laurel (Katie Cassidy) and father Quentin (Paul Blackthorne) to mourn her “death.” First, she was thought to have died off the island of Lian Yu.

In “Arrow” Season 3, the Lazarus Pit from DC Comics is used to resurrect Thea Queen (Willa Holland). When Barry goes to Nanda Parbat, he gets a chance to see this “tub.” In “Legends of Tomorrow,” Sara Lance is revived by the same fountain of youth.

Also present in “Legends of Tomorrow” are Ciara Renée as Kendra Saunders a.k.a. Hawkgirl and Franz Drameh as Jay Jackson. As mentioned in the video description, Arthur Darvill is playing Rip Hunter. These three have little to zero appearances in “The Flash” and “Arrow.”

Joining Lotz from the “Arrow” camp is Brandon Routh, who plays Ray Palmer a.k.a. The Atom. From “The Flash,” Victor Garber stars as Professor Martin Stein a.k.a. Firestorm. They can all be seen in the “Legends of Tomorrow” trailer. The other half of Firestorm, Robbie Amell’s Ronnie Raymond, is currently not listed as a ‘Legends’ regular.

Despite the neutral to positive viewer acceptance indicated by the millions of YouTube views, "Legends of Tomorrow" will not air until 2016. Berlanti's "Supergirl" on CBS will air sooner.
