A good old fashioned rest is what Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James needed to re-capture the form that made him a four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP.). James’ return to form is working wonder for the Cavaliers who are suddenly enjoying the best stretch of the season, displaying a new found swagger and defensive tenacity that was evident in their latest win over formidable Western Conference contender Oklahoma City Thunder, 108-98.

James paced the Cavs, winners of straight, with 34 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The team fielded 5 other players in double figures including Kevin Love (19 points, 13 rebounds) who delivered the dagger 3 that extended the lead beyond reach with just over 3 minutes to play. It was a productive home stand for the Cavaliers who went 4-0 during the stretch and are beginning to display the contender form that most basketball analysts were expecting from the talented group. "

"We're a confident bunch," James said per ESPN. "But for us, we're a humble bunch. It's one game versus a very experienced team, a very talented team, a very good team that's been together for a while. It shows that we can match up with some of the high-caliber teams."

The loss puts a dent to the playoff hopes of the Thunder who currently sit the 10th spot at 22-22 and have lost 2 in a row. The dynamic duo of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook led the team with 32 and 22 points respectively however, ineffective shooting and defense was their main problems during the game. The team shot 39 per cent during the game with Westbrook going just 7-for-26 and reserve guard Dion Waiters just shooting 5-for-15, in his sort of home coming. The stocky guard who was just traded for J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert was welcomed to a mixture of applause and boos during his entrance. The crowd was also animated when Waiters got the chance to guard James, with the two-time NBA champion converting a long three in his face.

The Cavaliers will look to extend the streak to 7 when it travels to the Detroit Pistons Tuesday. The Thunder will hope to rebound from the two straight defeats when host the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves, Monday.
