After working on the “Dragon Age” games for 10 years, senior writer David Gaider announced that he would be leaving the series for a mysterious new project, which would still be under Bioware. Gaider made the announcement via his Twitter account where he gave his reasons for leaving and clarified that he would still be staying with the Bioware game studio.

"While it's hard to leave Dragon Age behind, 10 years is a long time to work on any one project. I decided it was time for something new." Part of the Tweet that Gaider sent out when he made the big announcement.

Being one of the senior writers for Bioware, Gaider has worked on multiple games for Bioware. According to PC Gamer, Gaider was the lead writer for two “Neverwinter Nights” expansion packs: Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark. The veteran has also helped design games, working on “Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn and its expansion the Throne of Bhaal.

Gaider worked on all three “Dragon Age” games as the lead writer. Polygon states that he wrote a good number of dialogues for the characters, while also working on the narrative of the games. Patrick Weekes will be taking over Gaider’s position as the lead writer for the upcoming “Dragon Age” games.

Weekes has also had plenty of experience writing for a good number of Bioware games. He’s been credited as a writer for the critically acclaimed “Mass Effect” trilogy and has also worked on expansions for the series. Most recently, he helped write various parts of “Dragon Age: Inquisition.”

The new lead writer for the “Dragon Age” games went to Twitter and expressed how honored he was in continuing the “Dragon Age” saga that Gaider set in motion. The writer also joked about adding a good amount of sexy unicorns to the game.

As to what the new Bioware project is, so far Gaider isn’t talking. The writer stated that he was not allowed to publicly talk about the nature of the project, so it’s unknown if he will be working on an original IP or will be involved in the rumoured "Mass Effect" game that will take place after the original trilogy.
