Before the upcoming thriller “The Lazarus Effect” hits theaters, its official trailer made its debut on Jan. 7, Wednesday, and has since gone viral. On its first day, it has been viewed more than 600,000 times on YouTube.

Similar to the story of the 1990 Joel Schumacher film “Flatliners” starring Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon and Kiefer Sutherland, the story of “The Lazarus Effect” written by Luke Dawson and Jeremy Slater revolves around a group of medical students and their search for a way to bring dead patients back to life.

Playing the lead characters are “House Of M.D.” alum Olivia Wilde, “The Mindy Project” star Mark Duplass, “American Horror Story” actor Evan Peters and “Magic Mike XXL” actor Donald Glover.

Also joining Wilde, Duplass, Peters and Glover in “The Lazarus Effect” cast are Sarah Bolger, Bruno Gunn, Jennifer Floyd, Scott Sheldon, Ator Tamras, Scott L. Treger, and Emily Kelavos, among others.

“The Lazarus Effect” marks its director David Gelb’s narrative feature film debut. He was known for his documentaries, such as “Jiro Dreams Of Sushi,” “Ludo” and “A Vision Of Blindness.” He will also direct the upcoming documentary “A Faster Horse.”

After its debut in the United States on Feb. 27, “The Lazarus Effect” will also hit theaters in the Netherlands, Russia and Ukraine in March and in Brazil in April. Watch the thriller’s 145-second trailer here:
