It’s been an unfortunate number of weeks for fans of the “Silent Hill” series. Not only has the highly anticipated “Silent Hills” been cancelled, but the publisher of the game Konami has also removed “P.T.” the teaser of the now cancelled game. While this move was an expected one from fans, it became much more newsworthy when it was revealed that fans who has previously downloaded “P.T” and deleted it can no longer re-download the teaser demo.

The decision to no longer distribute the teaser was never in question, but the fact that it would no longer be downloadable for fans that have previously purchased it is definitely an oddity. Polygon tried the method as well, though the title was still re-downloadable on April 30, it seems that is no longer the case.

There were also rumours that “P.T.” would also expire from consoles that haven’t deleted the demo yet, though a report from Kotaku has proven that rumour false. It turns out some copies of “P.T.” are linked to PlayStation Plus, like the German copies, so as long as the subscription gets renewed, there doesn’t seem to be any problems with those versions.

Unsurprisingly, the removal of “P.T.” has proven to be a controversial decision that has left a bad taste in the mouths of many a fan. A report from Forbes stated that “P.T.” was the best game Konami had released in years, despite essentially being an advertisement for the now cancelled “Silent Hills” game.

Konami has since stated that there will be more “Silent Hill” games in the future, despite the cancellation of “Silent Hills.” The cancelled game would have featured a collaborative effort between “Metal Gear Solid” creator Hideo Kojima and Horror legend Guillermo del Toro. Norman Reedus of “Boondok Saints” and “Walking Dead” fame was also going to lend his voice and appearance to the game.

Fans hoping to try out “P.T.” are currently out of luck as Konami has stopped distributing the game since the end of last month. The fact that the game can’t be re-downloaded can be considered mind-boggling, especially with the lack of a response from Konami.
