Kodak is readying itself to introduce the first photography-inspired smartphone, the Kodak Ektra by the end of 2016. It is expected to be made available in Europe first at a price of £449 (AU$720). As per reports, the Kodak Ektra looks promising both from the inside as well as the outside.

Kodak wants to provide the nostalgic feel to users who have grown up using Kodak cameras and reels. On the outside, the Kodak Ektra looks like a digital camera featuring a leather-lined back with the camera lens and sensor protruding from one side, writes The Bitbag.

Users will be wowed by its features as they are akin to a DSLR. The smartphone features a 21MP mega-camera with a wide range of DSLR controls. The 13MP front snapper will take the perfect selfies that one can dream of.

Kodak made an entry to the smartphone market back in 2015 with its Kodak IM5 handset. However, the device failed to create any hype due to lacklustre specs and short supply. This is about to change with Kodak Ektra as it will come decked up with nostalgia-invoking, performance-oriented specs.

The smartphone is rumoured to be powered by a 10-core Helio X20 processor that will be nothing short of a wonder. The impressive processor will be backed by an impressive 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. The handset will feature a microSD card slot for expanding the memory, reports Gadgets 360.

Users may not worry about the battery capacity while taking loads of selfies and photographs. The Kodak Ektra will feature a 3,000 mAh battery that will provide users hours a photo fun. Ektra will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and have a 5-inch IPS display screen with 1920×1080 pixel resolution.

Kodak Ektra will allow users to control every aspect of the camera just like a DSLR. It will also feature highly efficient photo-editing software. Snapseed is expected to provide image editing capability on-the-go.
