It is not exactly clear how Kim Kardashian’s loss of valuable jewelries in France will make a dent on her fortune but shying away from the spotlight can take a toll on the net worth of Kanye West’s wife.

Before she lost jewelries estimated to be worth at least US$10 million (AU$14 million) in Paris, Kardashian ranked 42nd on the Forbes magazines’ 2016 Celebrity 100 list. The 35-year-old reality television star made US$51 million pretax between June 2015 to June 2016.

According to Forbes, Kardashian’s annual paycheck reflected earnings across her businesses, which rely heavily on her popularity. Aside from her hefty paycheck for filming the reality show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” Kardashian also ventured into the tech industry. As a tech entrepreneur, her Kim Kardashian: Hollywood mobile app made US$71.8 million in 2015. She also makes money from the subscription-based Kimoji app and a separate personal app.

She also scored a number of endorsement contracts mainly due to her great social media following. Kardashian has so far gathered 85 million followers on Instagram, 48.4 million on Twitter, and 29.4 million likes on Facebook.

But following the Oct. 3 break-in of Kardashian’s rented apartment in Paris, she has gone inactive on social media. Kardashian used to document with every post her lavish lifestyle. She normally gets an average of 1 million likes with each post, especially on the photo-and-video-sharing site Instagram.

Critics said Kardashian’s transparency about her wealth on social media backfired after she lost her US$3.4 million (AU$4.5 million) engagement ring to robbers in Paris. The five-man gang dressed as policemen reportedly got away with 13 pieces of jewelry from the celebrity mom.

Kardashian’s post-robbery trauma did not only suspend her social media activities. It also placed the filming of “Keeping up with the Kardashians” on hold. (Read: Kim’s post-robbery trauma halts filming of ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’)

Kardashian debuted on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list in 2015, when she ranked 33. With her abrupt exit from the limelight, Kardashian may see her rank slide from the elitist list.
