KFC Australia is giving a year’s supply of free chicken to mark National Fried Chicken Day. The fast food chain has announced that a “Chicken Cheque” would be given to one lucky customer.

The Chicken Cheque is an all-access pass that has a total value of $5,200, or the lump sum equivalent of spending $100 for each week of the year. Those interested to join the contest have to explain why they are deserving of the prize by commenting on the KFC Australia’s Facebook page. They can submit multiple entries but they must be unique. They can also nominate someone to win.

Chief marketing officer Angela Richards said they were looking for hilarious stories, crazy anecdotes about their love for KFC fried chicken.

“National Fried Chicken Day is quite obviously one of our favourite calendar dates, so we wanted to do something special not only the joy of fried chicken but the people who adore KFC the most,” she said. “Nothing says, ‘I love the amazing taste of the Colonel’s secret recipe fried chicken,’ more than a year’s supply of the Colonel’s finest.”

She continued, “We’re looking for hilarious stories, whacky anecdotes and huge displays of immense love for KFC tasty fried chicken to help us choose our overall winner. The bigger and bolder the story, the better!”

The National Fried Chicken Day is on Friday. The fast food chain will be drawing the winner on that day. Competition ends on Wednesday, July 4, at 6 p.m. AEST.
