After visiting with Governor-General Quentin Bryce to discuss the election date in August 4, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd presented an outline of his plans for the future of Australia.

The leader of the Australian Labor Party said the upcoming election on Sept 7 will be all about trust. The decision as to who will lead the country amid new and difficult economic challenges, lies on the people's hands.

Mr. Rudd said the election will be about who the people trusts to promote employment, fair wages and favourable work conditions. It is a question of who will get to invest in the Australians' health and education.

Like his first term as prime minister, Kevin Rudd has positioned himself as the underdog in the race towards Sept 7. His opponent, Opposition leader Tony Abbott would be the winner if an election were held on Sunday, Aug 4. Mr. Rudd said Mr. Abbott would be prime minister should the election have been done yesterday.

Hitting the Coalition's Mr. Abbott, Mr Rudd said politics in Australia must move away from negative politics. According to MrRudd, three-word slogans will never solve the problems of the nation.

In his election campaign, he warned the people that if Tony Abbott and the Coalition won the election, they would go on a $70 billion "slash and burn" campaign which could affect the country.

Mr Rudd predicted that the Coalition would engage in a negative advertising campaign to boost their chances of winning the election and discredit him.

Mr Rudd once again challenged Mr Abbott to an election debate with Sky News as host. Mr Rudd said that Mr Abbott can't hide behind the negative ads. He also said that he is ready for a weekly debate with Mr. Abbott for the duration of the election campaign.

Mr. Rudd addressed the people that he would be "deeply honoured" to serve the people of Australia in the future.
