Cleveland Cavaliers starting power forward Kevin Love asserts that the team’s overall success is helping him cope with his personal struggles with his new team. The former top five scorer of the league has been relegated to a spot up shooter igniting talks that he might be unhappy with his role and leaning towards bolting for another team when his contract expires in the summer.

The discussions of his role against came up during the Cavaliers’ overtime win over the San Antonio Spurs last Thursday. The sweet shooting big man was benched in the fourth quarter in favour of James Jones as coach David Blatt opted to go small in the final quarter. This is the third time that Love has not seen any fourth quarter action in a close game and it also snapped his 10 straight games of scoring in double figures as he finished with just 8 markers. Despite this he stressed that he is not sulking and that he is just happy to be a part of a winning team.

"It's still a work in progress, but I think I've figured it out a little better," said Love during the team’s practice this Saturday according to ESPN. "It's like McHale used to tell me: Just go where they ain't. Just go out there and try to space the floor as best as I can."

Love also pointed out that he is nursing a recurring back injury that is limiting his mobility on the court. The 26-year-old former three point shooting champion that he will need the entire off season to correct his ailments and that he is pushing himself to be able to contribute night in and out. He admitted that he has been suffering stiffness on his back dating abck to the start of the season.

LeBron James chimed in on the contributions of his teammate by adding that Love is a very good basketball player and that the issue is not only about scoring but finding other means to contribute. After pointing out that the team attempted more than 50 threes in the past two games, Coach Blatt said that they will look more effort to go inside and possibly feature most post-ups for the former Minnesota Timberwolves player. The Cavaliers are currently in a four-game road trip and will travel next to the Orlando Magic looking to solidify their hold at the second spot in the Eastern Conference.
