Australian singer Keith Urban’s father and mentor Robert Urban has passed away. Keith recently announced that his father breathed his last on Saturday night.

"I've been deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support that [Nicole Kidman] and I, and our family, have received since my Dad’s passing on Saturday night," Keith revealed in a statement to People.

It was only a couple of days back that Keith opened up about his father’s ill health stating that he was in hospice care and revealed that he just had a few more weeks to live, during his visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum recently for his first exhibit. However, he did not reveal the reason behind Robert A.K.A Bob Urban’s deteriorating health back then, but his recent statement tells that his father was battling cancer.

"His long battle with cancer is now over and he is finally at peace. My dad's love of country music and America set me on my life's journey, and shaped so much of who I am today. Thank you to everyone who has kept us all in your thoughts and prayers," Keith added.

Keith’s father helped him to pursue his dream of becoming a country singer and supported him completely through his days of struggle. Keith has never refrained from showing his love for his father as he was deeply attached to Bob Urban.

Keith posted a photograph with his father in February to show his affection towards him.

The singer also shared an incident of his father buying a Don Williams album for him.

"I hit me in such a way that I thought, 'Oh, I'd love to make records where people know it's going to be solid and they go out and get it.' So I want to thank them for starting me on this journey," Keith said while reminiscing the good times spent with his dad.
