Kim Kardashian West has recently opened up about how life for her has been with the skin disorder psoriasis. The reality star says that those days when she would try to hide the dry and itchy patches she gets from the condition are over. While the condition can give her some degree of discomfort, Kardashian West has learned to embrace her situation and love herself despite of the discomfort that it brings her.

“Sometimes I just feel likes it’s my big flaw and everyone knows about it, so why cover it?” writes the 35-year-old mother of two on her page KimKardashianWest.com.

Kardashian West was first diagnosed with psoriasis after paying the dermatologist a visit way back in 2011 in an episode of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians.” She says that she got it for the first time at the DASH store opening in New York City, where she wore an all-sequin dress and suddenly started feeling itchy all over. Then, she thought that the itch was just caused by the fabric until the rash started covering her legs. Her mother thought she had psoriasis, since she has it too and it is hereditary, reports People.

While there is still no cure for the skin condition, the discomforts brought about by the condition can be controlled. For Kardashian West, she says that she has been able to manage the symptoms from avoiding acidic food such as tomatoes and eggplants and applying cortisone cream to the affected areas before going to bed at night, reports Daily Mail.

Kardashian West says that psoriasis affects everyone differently. In her case, she says that “sometimes the rashes are itchy, sometimes they’re flaky.” She is also hoping that a cure will come out soon but as for the meantime, she has learned to accept it as part of who she is.

With five years of managing the uncomfortable condition, it appears that the popular reality star is not too bothered by it anymore. When her patches flare up, she manages by using a little concealer to lighten the appearance of the dry and itchy red patches.
