Katy Perry owned the stage of the 2012 Billboard Music Awards with her freshest single, 'Wide Awake.'

It is the same song that she picked to use in promoting her upcoming 'Part of Me' 3D movie, which will hit the screens on July. The performance was certainly another heart stopping and memorable scene.

Straight from the high ceiling with acrobats from Cirque du Soleil all around her, the singer descended from the sky. The overall production would remind anyone of the Smashing Pumpkins' 'Tonight, Tonight' music video. There was only a white ribbon keeping her secure as she sings the lyrics of the song that talks about starting anew from a broken heart.

Perry arrived at the event's red carpet wearing a lavender gown. Perry and Justin Bieber were known to be the lead winners of the BMA this year as she was given the Spotlight Award for 5 no.1 songs in her 'Teenage Dream' album.

In her speech, the singer mentioned how honoured she felt since ithe sole other recipient of the award was the late Michael Jackson. It also caught the attention of many with Perry arriving on red carpet with her grandmum who is from Las Vegas.
