Katie Holmes Strives Hard In Creating A Normal Childhood For Daughter Suri [PHOTOS]
Actress Katie Holmes proved that she can be a hands on mom to her 6-year old daughter Suri when she taught her how to ride a bicycle over the weekend.
This is just another step in the process of the 33-year old mother's desire in creating a normal childhood for the beautiful little girl now that they are living in New York City. According to reports, Holmes has allegedly shielded Suri Cruise from the influence of Scientology.
Hollywood gossip columnist Janet Charlton revealed that Katie Holmes and daughter Suri just returned from visiting relatives in the Midwest where Suri Cruise met her cousins for the very first time. According to Charlton, Katie Holmes wants Suri to get used to the idea of playing with children her own age as well as learning how to share toys with other kids before starting to go to school for the first time this fall. The 6-year old Suri has been homeschooled when her parents, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, were still married.
Meanwhile, reports claim that the Midwest trip to visit Katie Holmes' relatives was actually the first time that Suri had flown on a commercial airline. The little girl obviously had help in packing her own bags and she also waited in line like any other passenger on the airport.
On the other hand, Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise accompanied the actress's publicist, Leslie Sloane, together with her daughter on a New York City tea outing. It became another opportunity for the six-year-old to spend time with girls near her own age. Clearly, Katie Holmes wants her daughter to be exposed in this kind of environment.
Earlier this month, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes released a joint statement noting that the former couple is devoted to putting first the best interests for their daughter Suri and they are going to work together as parents.
"We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents," says the statement excerpt of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise.
Katie Holmes, an Ohio native, will soon be sharing her fashion style sense with the world. Holmes will reportedly debut her fashion line "Holmes and Yang" during fashion week in New York City this September.
