New photographs of Princess Charlotte, the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, were released Sunday by Kensington Palace. The images, taken by the duchess herself Kate Middleton, have so far received praises from viewers since it captured a candid moment of the toddler looking happy as she played with a stuffed toy. However, expert photographer Kent Gavin saw the technical flaws with the pictures and thought they would have looked much better taken by a professional photographer.

The “Royal Photographer of the Decade” for the 1980s and 1990s and the former chief photographer for the Daily Mirror recently gave his honest opinion of the duchess’ photos of Princess Charlotte. Gavin, fourth time winner of the “British Press Photographer of the Year,” said the pictures are technically “not very good” and are just “typical of a mother’s photos of her kids.”

He also mentioned why “it’s a pity” that the photos were not taken skilfully because they “aren’t very sharp.”

“It’s a pity because it would have been very nice for a professional to have done them and for them to have been more technically sound,” he said.

Regardless, Gavin also admired the content of the photos. He complimented the Duchess of Cambridge’s photos of Princess Charlotte as “very happy and charming.” He also noted how the princess looked gorgeous in the photos.

A couple photos of Princess Charlotte were shared on the official Twitter page of Kensington Palace. The pictures were reportedly taken earlier in November at the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Norfolk home in Anmer Hall.

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to be able to share two new photographs of Princess Charlotte,” the palace captioned the photos.

Princess Charlotte’s photos have since received many praises from royal watchers from all over the world. People mostly commented on how cute and adorable Princess Charlotte looks. Despite Gavin’s critical input on the images, Twitter users were more enamoured by how lovely the little princess looks.

Others also commented on how Princess Charlotte is the spitting image of her mother Kate Middleton, while one Twitter user mistook her for her brother Prince George.

Photos of Princess Charlotte with her brother Prince George were also released by Kensington Palace back in June. The pictures were also taken by the Duchess of Cambridge.
