A cafe inspired by the Duchess of Cambridge has arrived in Melbourne. Called Middletown, it’s said to be the first ever Royal family-inspired cafe in Australia.

The Kate Middleton-inspired cafe, which recently opened in the suburb of Prahan just outside the Central Business District, was decorated with white furnishing and marble round tables, with top-of-the-range crockery of the same colour. It also has gold-coloured chrome light fixtures and a chequered terrazzo tiled floor in gray.

The tile’s hue could be inspired by the several grey dresses that Prince Williams’ wife has worn for years, which include her outfit during a Royal tour of the Down Under in 2014. The website for Middletown Cafe displays a sapphire ring-shaped mouse pointer, which looks like the princess’ engagement ring.

Owners Randy Dhamanhuri and Valerie Fong said the cafe embodies the “humble nature and unpretentious beauty” of Middleton. “Middletown is a beautiful space that welcomes everyone through its doors,” the owners told The Cool Hunter. The mother of two is said to possess the values that Dhamanhuri and Fong wanted the cafe to present.

Dhamanhuri said Middleton was his “muse” for the cafe’s visual. “When we think of Kate, the colour blue or navy always comes to mind,” he told People.

People notes that the cafe’s marble terrazzo tiles, which were shaped like diamonds, were organised in a pattern to bear a resemblance to Westminster Abbey where Prince William and Middleton got married in 2011, a wedding perceived as a real life fairytale.

Dhamanhuri said their goal is to provide a subtle hint to show that the Duchess “lives” here without displaying a photo of her. The owner hopes that Middleton will visit the place one day, which Elle describes as the most “Instagrammable” eateries they have seen.

He also points that the story of Middletown Cafe itself is one of the reasons why people love the place. “Once we share our vision and story behind it, they actually appreciate it,' he adds.

The cafe serves all-day breakfast and lunch menu of “classic flavours” with an “emphasis on fine seasonal produce.” According to its site, the cafe offers various choices such as chia seed pudding, wagyu brisket, paleo granola and quinoa salad.
