Royal watchers are reportedly hoping to get more glimpses of the Duchess of Cambridge following the birth of her daughter, Princess Charlotte on May 2. However, it’s believed that Kate Middleton will have less public appearances this month and in September as she has already planned her royal engagements toward the end of the year.

Sources told The Daily Beast that the duchess is building up her royal engagements throughout autumn and she will have more public appearances by October and December than in September. This information reportedly came after Kate’s recent absence at a friend’s wedding, which brought speculations that she may be suffering from postpartum depression.

However, Tom Sykes from The Daily Beast thinks that the Duchess of Cambridge just wants to lay low for the meantime as she dedicates her time caring for Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Kate will reportedly be spending the rest of the summer with her children in peace and quiet, away from the paparazzi, at their home in Anmer Hall.

While critics have reportedly called the duchess “lazy” for not attending to her royal duties, Sykes thinks it’s more of Kate wanting a longer maternity leave. It would reportedly be understandable if the Duchess of Cambridge decides to resume her royal duties toward the end of the year or even in January as her maternity leave is still in keeping with British norms. Sykes says mothers in the United Kingdom can take up to six months or even a year of maternity leave with state support.

It’s believed Kate and her husband, the Duke of Cambridge Prince William, will be present at the state banquet in October. The royal engagement will be held in Buckingham Palace to welcome China’s President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan to the United Kingdom.

Prince William reportedly extended the invitation to the Chinese President during his visit to the country. However, the palace has yet to officially confirm the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s presence at the said banquet. It’s believed Kate will wear a tiara for the gathering.
