Hip-hop star Kanye West is not planning on selling the controversial silicone sculpture of 12 nude celebrities that he used in his “Famous” music video, according to his representative.

Despite numerous media reports claiming that the artwork has a US$4 million (AU$5.2 million) price tag, the rapper’s camp said selling the controversial sculpture was not discussed with Blum and Poe Gallery where the two-day private exhibition was held in Los Angeles last Aug. 26.

“We are incredibly flattered that a number is being reported but at no point have we ever disclosed a sale price for the piece.

“As far as Mr. West is concerned - it's all about the art. We are looking forward to announcing when Famous will be available again for viewing.”

The controversial sculpture features nude replicas of West and his wife, reality star Kim Kardashian-West, while sleeping with other popular personalities Taylor Swift, Rihanna, George W. Bush, Donald Trump, Amber Rose, Anna Wintour, Bill Cosby, Chris Brown, Ray J and Caitlyn Jenner.

The artwork reportedly took US$1 million (AU$1.3 million) to fabricate. A group of at least 30 fabricators finished the lifelike nude sculpture within two-and-a-half months.

West’s commissioned sculpture made the music video of his 2016 hit “Famous” very controversial. Swift was reportedly “mad as hell” for being featured in the artwork without her permission.

West was not present during the scuplture’s exhibition in Los Angeles as he was in New York for a tour. His wife, Kim Kardashian West attended on his stead.
