Over the course of Sep. 29 and Sep. 30, the line-up for hit music festival Big Day Out was announced. Sharing top billing at 2012's Big Day Out is rapper Kanye West, American rockers Soundgarden and British band Kasabian.

The addition of Soundgarden to the line-up is something of a coup for the festival as the band hasn't played down-under since 1997, largely thanks to a 12-year hiatus. The band has previously played Big Day Out in 1994 and 1997 and will be hoping that 2012 affords them an equally warm welcome.

Rap superstar Kanye West recently brought his live show to Splendour in the Grass, and next year's Big Day Out will be the only place to see West perform in Australia in 2012. So if you want to catch the man responsible for hits such as "Jesus Walks", "Gold Digger" and "Love Lockdown" then be sure to secure yourself a ticket for one of Big Day Out's dates throughout Australia and New Zealand.

These names weren't the only artists announced for the 2012 event; to see what highlights lie in store for Big Day Out 2012, look through our slideshow, and remember that there are still further acts to be announced.
