Kanye West has raised his hope for a future run for the White House after meeting with the US President-elect Donald Trump.

The 39-year-old rap sensation arrived at the Trump Tower on Tuesday with an entourage and Donald Trump joined him for a photo-op after a few minutes in the lobby of his building. After the meeting, West said in a series of tweets that he discussed multicultural issues like bullying, modernising curriculum and helping teachers with the president-elect. He also hinted at the possibility of his future plan with a simple hashtag tweet, #2024, which could suggest he intends to run for presidency in 2024.

Kim Kardashian, his wife, however did not accompany the star this time. His entourage included Corey Gamble, who is dating his mother-in-law, Kris Jenner.

“He’s a good man,” the president-elect told reporters. He added that he and West have been friends for long. Mr Kanye just stood silently beside President-elect Mr Trump with folded hands. Upon inquiring if he would perform for the inaugural function in January or run for president in 2020, he just said, “I just want to take a picture right now.” He then smiled and gave a thumbs-up gesture. The two hugged and said their goodbyes.

For many of Kanye’s fans, this is another crisis. The star once accused American capitalists of exploiting black people without caring for their wellbeing. Now he is trying to be friendly with someone whom they consider a dissident.

This is West’s first public appearance after his brief stay in the hospital for psychiatric observation last month. And his motives are unknown, writes The Atlantic. West said that he would have voted for Trump but he donated to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. There are those who feel that this may be an attempt to lobby the president-elect on issues he may disagree.
