The Finnish company's partnership with crowdfunding platform Indiegogo has turned out to be a big success. At first, the company's goal was to earn US$380,000 and targets to sell 2,000 units before December 9. The campaign managed to raise over a million dollars in just a few days.

Currently, Jolla has already raised US$1,256,162 with almost a couple of weeks more to go. The company is selling the tablets on a discounted price of US$209 exclusively for Indiegogo supporters but the real retail price of the Jolla is US$249, Geeky Gadgets reports.

The company recently announced that the Jolla Tablet will have its pilot release in the U.S., Norway, Switzerland, India, China, Hong Kong and Russia. Based on public voting on its forum, the company has now decided to reach Australia and Canada. Adding the two major countries in the list where in the new tablet will initially hit next year.

According to the Jolla blog, the company is happy to announce the addition of Australia and Canada to the Jolla Tablet campaign. Both countries were listed as the two most voted. People behind the campaign also invite other Australians and Canadians to support the Jolla movement.

In addition, here are some extra inputs for readers who are not so familiar with the new device. The Jolla (pronounced as "yolla") Tablet was produced by a company founded in Finland last 2011 composed of individuals who happened to be former Nokia employees. The company already sold its own smartphones a year after the company's birth.

The tablet is powered by an open source operating system known as Sailfish. The tablet is packed with a 64-bit Intel processor running at a speed of 1.8GHz and it comes with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage plus an expandable memory card slot. The Jolla has a 7.9-inch display, which has an impressive screen resolution of 2048x1536 pixels with 330ppi pixel density. It measures 203x137x8.3mm and has a 4,300mAh battery. The tablet is also equipped with a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing camera for quality photos and videos.

The Jolla Tablet is expected to reach various markets in May next year. The tablet will cost US$249, however, there is no given price yet for its Australian release.
