John O'Shea convinces Manchester United to sign Borussia and Germany defender Mats Hummels. Last week, O'Shea outplayed Hummels but he was impressed enough to suggest Manchester United to buy the 25-year-old central defender.

"I could definitely recommend them Mats Hummels from Germany [he laughs]. He was fantastic last night [for Germany against Ireland]," O'Shea told TalkSport.

However, O'Shea admits that will be challenging to lure the Dortmund superstar to leave for the Manchester United as he appears to prefer his football in Germany. But then again, O'Shea believes that Manchester United has the resources to entice the powerhouse to join the squad.

"It seems to be that he doesn't want to leave Germany. But you never know, there's always different incentives they [Man United] can offer to change that. But he was very good last night," O'Shea revealed.

Meanwhile, Mats Hummels appears to be the target of both the Gunners and the Old Trafford as he has also been identified as the top transfer target of Arsenal for £32 million according to the Daily Mail.

In the past years, the Arsenal might have never considered paying £32 million for a defender but that appears to be the asking price of Borussia Dortmund. As such, Arsenal thought that it has already secured the race for Mats Hummels before the August window closed, but just as it appeared as if he deal was already polished, Dortmund made Hummels team captain and he opted to stay. According to the Daily Mail, the offer for Hummels had not exceeded £25 million.

Thus far, Arsenal has the sufficient funds to meet the asking price of Dortmund and challenge Manchester United for the World Cup winner but a tug-of-war might come down to personal terms. Teaming-up with his former international teammate Per Mertesacker could also be an advantage of Arsenal to secure Mats Hummels. Arsenal's top target list also includes Real Madrid's Sami Khedira in an attempt to toughen up their midfield.
