Jeremy Renner: 'Avengers' Actor Responds To Social Media Criticism Over His Jennifer Lopez 'Globes' Comment At the 2015 Golden Globe Awards

"The Avengers" star Jeremy Renner received social media criticism after commenting that actress-singer Jennifer Lopez got the "globes" due to her plunging dress while presenting an award at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards last Sunday, Jan. 11, in Beverly Hills, California. The 44-year-old actor responded to the online backlash over his cleavage joke through a post on WhoSay.

"A reminder not to take this shit so serious. Thanks Jennifer -- You're a gem.x #goldenglobes #hadtosayit #jlo," Jeremy Renner posted on Who Say last Monday, Jan. 12, as a caption to a shared image of himself and co-presenter Jennifer Lopez laughing at his comment. Click HERE to see photo.

According to a Daily News report, Jeremy Renner and Jennifer Lopez were on stage to present the Golden Globe Award for "Best Actor in a Mini Series or TV Movie" when the "globes" joke happened. When the time came to finally announce the winner, Jennifer Lopez asked her co-presenter if he wanted her to open the envelope and reveal the name of the winner.

"I have the nails," the 45-year-old actress declared. "You've got the globes, too," Renner commented. Jennifer Lopez, who wore a plunging neckline Zuhair Murad dress at the event, laughed at the actor's statement and even playfully hit him but the social media gave mixed reactions to Jeremy Renner's "globes" joke.

Some of the comments on social media sites like Twitter and YouTube, where a video of Jennifer and Jeremy presenting at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards got uploaded, slammed "The Bourne Legacy" actor by declaring that he "sexually harassed" J.Lo on live television while some found hilarity at Jeremy Renner's remark about the "Selena" star.

One post on Twitter noted that Jeremy Renner's comment was such a "good, off the cuff awards show moment" while another post declared that "some people need to get a grip" because the actor's comment was "pure humour." Meanwhile, there are some comments attacking J.Lo for her revealing dress causing her co-presenter to notice and make a comment about it. Despite the numerous criticisms, Jeremy Renner is thankful that Jennifer Lopez was not offended with his remark during the star-studded awarding ceremony.
