Jeremy Lin, the Brooklyn Nets point guard, is expected to return to action in the team's first game post the All-Star break, against the Denver Nuggets, next Friday, per fresh reports. Lin has missed Brooklyn’s last 25 games due to a strained left hamstring.

Lin underwent a full practice session Tuesday and caught the eyes of coach Kenny Atkinson, who is ready to bring the point guard back after the All-Star break which runs from Friday (Feb. 17) through Thursday (Feb. 23). “He (Lin) did pretty much everything (on Tuesday), even a little extra afterwards, played a little full-court. So (it’s) good news. He’s going to get that 10-day All-Star period to get his rhythm, get in better shape, work on his cardio. … He looked good, shot the ball well," the Nets coach was quoted as saying by the New York Post.

Jeremy Lin injury update: Guard's conditioning still a worry

Lin, playing for his sixth team in seven NBA seasons, signed a three-year, US$38 million (AU$51 million) contract with Brooklyn during the offseason. The Asian-American guard has appeared in just 12 of Brooklyn's 56 games due to recurring hamstring issues. His first hamstring injury occurred on Nov. 2 which forced him to sit out a total of 19 games. Quickly after that, he aggravated the injury on Dec. 26 and hasn't returned since.

Coach Atkinson admitted that Lin must improve his conditioning in order to get starter minutes. With rookie Isaiah Whitehead starting in his stead, Lin would be on a minutes’ restriction before forcing his way back to the first unit. “It’s (Lin's return) big... it gives the whole organisation, our team, some stability, (to) see all of our players with a guy of Jeremy’s calibre and experience. It’s well-needed, especially with us struggling. It’s good news all around," added Atkinson.

Meanwhile, Lin, who is averaging 13.9 points and 5.8 this season, lamented the team's league-worst record of 9-46 and an ongoing 13-game losing streak. “It’s been really, really hard to watch. I feel for the guys, because they’re playing hard, playing the right way, moving the ball, trying to do the right things. … I’m not going to lie: It wears on everybody. I walk in there and I just feel bad. I’m a little bit upset at myself. I just feel bad for the whole situation, really," said Jeremy Lin, who is expected to play against the Nuggets next Thursday.
