Jennifer Lopez has opened up about why her past relationships did not work out. The singer claimed she chose the wrong guys and they broke her heart.

Page Six reports that on Wednesday night's season premiere of "American Idol," judge Lopez's sudden outburst on why she experienced a string of broken relationships, including a broken marriage, took the fans by surprise. She said she's hardly a bad girlfriend, but admitted that she chose the wrong guys to be a girlfriend/wife to. "I'm a great girlfriend, and wife. Just picked the wrong f--ing guys," she revealed.

This is not the first time that the actress has talked about her painful breakups. Lopez has gone through a series of messy and public breakups. She broke up with ex-fiance Ben Affleck, divorced from ex-husband Marc Anthony, and then split up with a younger backup dancer, Casper Smart. Speaking about her failed relationships, the singer told Meredith in September how she's enjoying being single. She shared that being on her own at that time was just what she needed. She said she felt as if she'd been in relationships her whole life and being alone is just what she needed then. She once also said that a relationship should be something that is supportive and uplifting.

According to Lopez, the right relationship should make a person feel more confident, better, and "adding to the relationship that's already inside" a person. This is probably why Lopez gave Meghan Trainor the advice she did when the "All About the Bass" singer asked for love advice. According to Meghan Trainor, when she met J.Lo during the American Music Awards, she was starstruck. In addtion to thinking that the moment was just epic and telling the singer that "Selena" was one of the reasons why she wanted to be a singer, she also asked Lopez "how to have boyfriends in this industry," according to ET Online. Lopez told her to "just be picky."

Despite all these talks of past relationships, Lopez and Smart are reportedly back in each other's arms. Hollywood Life reports that they were spotted together on New Year's Eve in Las Vegas where Lopez held her concert special, "The Best Is Yet To Come."
