Jennifer Lopez is calling dancers around the globe to dance their way to a million-dollar prize and the title of being the world’s best performers with her new reality show “World of Dance.”

The singer-actress has partnered with NBC to produce “World of Dance,” the newest global dance competition open to all dancers regardless of age and style.

“Dance has always been my passion. It's raw, it's emotional, it's healing,” Lopez said in a video posted on the NBC website.

“I’m really excited to announce that I will be partnering with World of Dance and NBC to bring broadcast television’s biggest, fiercest and most talent-heavy dance performers competing for a grand prize of one million dollars.

“We are talking about any kind of dance, any kind of dance from ballet or modern, from ballroom to hip hop and everything in between. It’s open to kids and adults. If you're great, we want to see you and we want to see you soon.”

Deadline and mechanics

The contest will feature three divisions based on age and size: Junior for dancers aged 8 to 16, and groups with up to 20 in members; Upper for performers aged 17 and up, and groups with up to four members; and Teams for those aged 17 and older, and groups consisting of five to 20 performers. Top qualifiers in the three divisions will battle in the finale for the US$1 million (AU$1.3 million) grand prize.

Hopefuls are required to register online and submit a video of their routine on or before Aug. 26. Successful hopefuls will be called back for an audition in September. Casting auditions will be held in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Chicago.

It is not immediately clear if JLo will host the 10-episode talent search or be a part of the panel of soon-to-be-named judges. "World of Dance" release date is yet to be announced. For more information, go to worldofdancecasting.com.
