A Jennifer Lawrence vs. Shailene Woodley scenario isn't too farfetched. Aside from box office battles as Katniss Everdeen in "The Hunger Games" and Beatrice Prior in the "Divergent" film franchises, both young actresses have spent a lot of time getting all dressed up.
Movie premieres, Comic Con panels, and award shows have brought out the dueling styles of Jennifer Lawrence and Shailene Woodley. The two have walked their share of red carpets, and both have tried their hand in printed dresses. Some were successful, and others, not so much.
Shailene and Jennifer have a similar career story - critically acclaimed performances and leading roles in highly anticipated movies. Before "Divergent," Shailene Woodley was busy with "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," as well as her Golden Globe nominated role in "The Descendants." Shailene spent much of the 2012 awards season in fashion highs and lows. But, some of her best dresses came in vibrant colours and bold prints. Just take her back-to-back printed frocks in January of 2012. Her floral embroidered L'Wren Scott dress showed that sophisticated, older-than-her-years side of Shailene. But, her graphic print Jason Wu dress at a BAFTA event in Los Angeles, was fun and youthful.
For the 2013 San Diego Comic Con, "casual" was the theme for Shailene Woodley. Theo James and Shailene were all about relaxed clothes on the "Divergent" panel, but the 21-year can glam it up just as well. Shailene cut a fashion-forward figure at the 2012 Met Gala in a floral, sequined Christopher Kane gown. She rocked a strapless, Dolce & Gabbana floral frock at a "Descendants" premiere in 2011, and then surprised fashion fans with a charming L'Wren Scott column in blue and red florals for the SAG Awards in 2012.
22-year-old Jennifer Lawrence did a lot of red carpet hopping for "The Hunger Games" and "Silver Linings Playbook." Just recently the Dior model showed an edgy, youthful look courtesy of Proenza Schouler. She showed a flash of midriff in a graphic print top and wrap skirt. The Oscar winner also has an adventurous streak which she displayed in Toronto in 2012. No less than a Christian Dior Haute Couture garment clothed Jennifer Lawrence. Style risk as it was, Jennifer's strapless, watercolor print dress was a sight to see.
Jennifer Lawrence's best printed dress was something that combined a flattering silhouette with bold design. Her colorful Prabal Gurung dress for the AFI Awards in 2013, paired with pink-trimmed pumps, was a winning printed dress.
