"Jelena" fans may be disheartened with the latest news on their favourite teenage couple. Rumours have been floating around the web that Selena and Justin's reconciliation was purely for publicity. Apart from that, a contract was set for these two to "use" each other's popularity. How true are the rumours?

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez may have faced the biggest break-up issue to date. However, these two did manage to reconcile despite a few complicated Instagram and Twitter posts over the past couple of weeks. It seems that only a few months off was needed for both parties to realize they needed one another. Yet, a gossip column claims the split and the relationship was all a set-up. The report is as follows.

"Dating and breaking up, dating and breaking up, dating. Since this young celebrity couple has gone back and forth so many times, they must really love each other, right?"

"Not exactly."

"For her, it's strictly a business arrangement. Her team encouraged the last split because he was screwing up his life, and, consequently, her reputation. Why date someone if they are going to make you look bad by association?"

"But then, two things happened. He stopped being as big of an ass... and she had an album she needed to promote. So, she went back to him."

"Don't think of it as a permanent arrangement, however. Her team will reevaluate the relationship a few weeks after her album comes out. If the album does not sell well, they will ask her to hang on a little longer for the publicity, especially since he is the subject of at least one song on the album. They absolutely want her to milk that connection for all it's worth. If the album does sell well, she won't need him, and she will break up with him again within a couple of months after the album comes out."

"Does he realize this? No. There is no contract this time around, and he actually believes that that they're in love."

Now, this post blows everything out of proportion. "Beliebers" and "Selenators" would know that their idols had truly fallen head over heels for each other. What could be better proof than the heart-broken songs, posts and disses aimed at the other? If this were purely for publicity's sake, then it could have been as quick as the "Haylor" duo.

Also, in an interview with InStyle magazine, Selena opens up on falling in love and out of love with Bieber and how it had affected her. If anything, "Jelena" can pass off the "contract rumours" as bull.

"It's uncomfortable that everywhere I go, people know. I don't like that. But Justin and I never really focused on the attention. You can't help who you date. So I wouldn't swear off that or say that's what I want again. I don't know. I'm a kid, and a breakup is normal. I have to go through the emotions and feel it out. I'm doing my own thing, being with my friends, and he's doing very well too," stated Gomez.
