NASCAR friends and fans only have Jason Leffler videos left to remember #LEFturn and keep the sportsman alive in dirt car events' history. Meanwhile, the late racer's girlfriend has spoken about the allegation that Leffler has left his son with nothing.

NASCAR driver Jason Leffler, 37, died Wednesday night in a heat race at a dirt car event at Bridgeport Speedway. His car crashed into a wall shortly after the race kicked off. Leffler leaves behind his 5-year-old son.

Leffler's funeral is set for Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Grace Covenant Church in Cornelius, according to wsoctv.com.

"NASCAR extends its thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies to the family of Jason Leffler who passed away earlier this evening," NASCAR said in a statement. "For more than a decade, Jason was a fierce competitor in our sport and he will be missed."

Jason Leffler Life Insurance and Will Controversy: Girlfriend Speaks Up

Mere days after the heat race accident, Leffler's former sister-in-law told the media the racer did not have life insurance. The young boy is frequently seen in photos alongside his racer dad, endearing the public.

Speaking to Sporting World, Amy East Cook said, "Jason did not have a life insurance policy, so he didn't really leave anything (long-term) for Charlie. I don't think anybody knows that. I think they would assume he would have that."

In defense of the late racer, his live-in partner Julianna Patterson said, "It's insane that someone would bring this up, would bring up life insurance, within a day of this happening. We haven't even had the funeral yet." In a Daily Mail report, Patterson said further, "Jason would never have left Charlie with nothing. Never. To suggest otherwise is not true and it's evil."

Leffler was not a huge name megastar in the sports, but he was certainly loved by peers and many fans. Leffler's last full Nationwide season was two years ago. Last year, he had run just 12 NASCAR races. Still, "(The father-of-one) absolutely bent over backward to do whatever was best for (his son) Charlie,' said Chris Leffler, executor of the drivers' will.
