Season 1 of the new hit comedy “Jane The Virgin” ended with a lot of cliff hangers. Rogelio and Xiomara discovered that they got married in Las Vegas after getting drunk. They had to focus on the birth of the baby and were not able to tackle the issue but show runner Jennie Urman reveals that the arrival of Rogelio’s ex-wife will complicate matters for them in season 2. [Warning Spoiler Alert]

Xiomara and Rogelio are technically on a break. After Xiomara admitted to kissing her ex-boyfriend Marco, Rogelio was unable to forgive her. He talked about how his ex-wife cheated on him and how the experience has made him skeptical and paranoid about cheating partners. He was unable to get past Xiomara’s moment of weakness so they have been struggling to reconnect.

Just when they were getting along again, they got wasted in Las Vegas where they ended up getting married. With the kidnap of Jane’s baby, their problem will take a back seat at the start of season 2. However, they will have to tackle it eventually. Urman told The Hollywood Reporter that their relationship will be complicated by the return of Rogelio’s cheating ex-wife.

“She's a beautiful, beautiful hoarder, so she will come and complicate their lives,” says Urman. She also describes Rogelio’s ex as his first true love. Urman explains that there are obviously strong feeling between Rogelio and Xiomara but there will be obstacles. They will be feeling different ways about the marriage and things will be complicated further by the arrival of Rogelio’s ex.

“The course of the second season will include some definitive moves on their relationship, there will be some finality to it,” says Urman. The pair evolved from being estranged, to becoming lovers. They then moved in together and eventually broke up. After a drunken evening, they then ended up married in season 1. Season 2 will prove to be another rollercoaster but Urman promises finality to their relationship status. Whether it is a positive or negative ending remains to be seen.

Both Xiomara and Rogelio will also have to deal with becoming grandparents. Now that Mateo has arrived, the need to stand by Jane and support her in her new role as a mother.

“Jane The Virgin” returns on October for season 2. The series airs on the CW on Tuesday evenings at 9:00 pm. ET.
