After breakthrough actress Gina Rodriguez bagged the award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series in the recently concluded Golden Globe Awards, all eyes are on her hit new series "Jane The Virgin." The CW series just started airing in October last year and is already one of the successful new shows that came out last fall. With the show having been renewed for a second season, the show's creator is giving an update on the status of Jane's virginity.

As the title indicates, the show revolves around a 23-year-old girl who has pledged to remain a virgin until she gets married. The whole pledge was given to her grandmother after Jane was taught at a young age that once she loses her virginity, she could never go back to her original pure state. Things got complicated when she was accidentally inseminated through a routine hospital visit that went wrong. Jane ended up conceiving a baby and so far into the ninth episode of the season, things have gotten even more complicated for Jane.

The show's creator Jennie Snyder Urman shared that they intend to keep Jane a virgin until she gets married despite already being pregnant. Entertainment Weekly reported that Urman spoke during the CBS Studio Day that they know that keeping her virginity is important to Jane and they intend to stick by the character's core values.

Jane however is not a prude despite valuing her virginity. Getting married isn't a far-fetched idea either since Jane actually almost got married a few episodes into the show. She was in a relationship with detective Michael Cordero when the show began and the pair got engaged. They were ready to get married when Jane learned that Michael had been lying to her about something concerning the baby and she broke it off. She had initially agreed to finally lose her virginity to Michael before a series of incidents and unfortunate events prevented them from getting the deed done and they eventually broke up. Jane later discovered that she has feelings for her baby daddy Rafael, whose sperm was accidentally inseminated into her. He is incidentally also the owner of the hotel that she works in.

The quest to keep her virginity intact will be a long and interesting ride and the show's creators need to come up with more creative ways for things to stay interesting and believable. The actress Gina Rodriguez herself has admitted that since playing the role, she has been questioned about the status of her virginity in real life as well which she says is her own business.
