Daniel Craig reporteldy only has one more “James Bond” film to make before finally turning over his Agent 007 role to another actor. Among the action stars rumoured for the part is Damian Lewis. The “Homeland” star recently fuelled speculations he is the next James Bond during his interview on “CBS This Morning” on Wednesday.

Lewis addressed the James Bond rumours during his appearance on “CBS This Morning,” where he talked about his new Showtime TV series “Billions.” When asked if he has signed on to play the role of Agent 007 after Craig, the actor remained coy. Instead, he fuelled the speculations when he refused to deny the speculations.

According to the Daily Star, he also seemed to be getting into character already when he replied, “I would tell you but I would have to kill you.”

Lewis didn’t outright give a direct yes or no reply. However, he also hinted his eagerness to play James Bond.

“Look, when you're growing up as a kid, if somebody said to you, 'Would you like to be James Bond?' First of all you'd laugh and say, 'It's never going to happen.' Secondly you say, 'Yeah, obviously,'" he said during his appearance on “CBS This Morning.”

According to Mirror UK, Craig only has a few months left to decide whether he will reprise his James Bond role in future films. The new “James Bond” film will reportedly start filming in the spring. It was initially rumoured that his last film would be “Spectre” after he had asked for time off from the Bond films to be with his family.

Lewis has been rumoured for the James Bond role for several months now. A source once revealed that the 46-year old is already the first choice to portray the character, because he is considered as “all-round international star.”

The “Homeland” actor is said to be “perfect” as James Bond because he looks suave and sophisticated the older he gets. The source claimed close friends of Lewis have already been given the unofficial nod that he will portray James Bond when Craig finally decides to hand the role to another actor.
