Aside from promoting the Jake Gyllenhaal-starrer “Southpaw,” Curtis Jackson, better known as 50 Cent, recently appeared on several talk shows to talk about bankruptcy and bad music. He is part of the cast of the boxing film directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by Kurt Sutter.

After “Southpaw” premiered on July 24, 50 Cent appeared on Ora TV’s “Larry King Now” Season 4 premiere, in which he explained the recent reports about his bankruptcy. On July 13, he filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, which he called a “strategic” move after the court ruling that required him to pay $5 million to a woman who sued him in a sex tape case.

According to 50 Cent, filing for bankruptcy protection was necessary for him to make at the moment. He explained that he did not allow himself “to create that big red and white bull’s-eye” on his back, where he becomes the person people come to consistently.

Since filing for bankruptcy protection, 50 Cent has faced backlash. The rapper, however, said that the negative reaction does not bother him. He told Larry King that many things are being said about him on social networks, and he expects that after a week, people will go “in a different direction.”

Before his appearance on “Larry King Now” Season 4 premiere, 50 Cent also appeared on “Conan” and talked about the bankruptcy issue. He said it is inevitable that people who achieve success become an ideal target for lawsuits.

He continues to be active in his acting career and is also set to release his sixth studio album “Street King Immortal” in September. At the recent “Southpaw” media day in Los Angeles, he said that television is “a place for bad music.”

For 50 Cent, the making of the Starz series “Power,” which he produces and stars in, proved that persevering with one’s vision despite people’s failure to see it immediately is worth it. “When you play music that’s up to standard and you say that there’s no additional cost for it, it’s because of how well the project is gonna be and put together,” he was quoted as saying by Hip Hop DX.
