Australia’s Prime Minister (PM) Tony Abbott received a wake-up call from Hollywood for his view on gay marriage. Movie actor and comedian Jack Black has called out on the PM about his stand on same-sex marriage during a radio interview with Dan Debuf and Maz Compton from “2Day Hit 104” on Thursday.

Black was on the show to promote his new show “The Brink,” which according to news.com.au focuses on different world issues every season. When asked if he would like to bring the show to Australia to tackle the issue on marriage equality, the actor expressed his hesitation considering Mr. Abbot’s opposition on the matter.

“I personally think the guy’s living in the stone ages, though. The movement of the world is heading towards equality for all people, all sexual preferences,” Black said.

Black also referenced the Prime Minister when asked if there would be a possible sequel to “School of Rock.” The 45-year old asked if Mr. Abbott wouldn’t mind if “College of Rock” will be filmed in Australia, to which DJ Dan said he has no idea what the PM would think about it.

“Yeah, he sounds like a bit of a nutter,” Black replied.

The actor’s statements came after Mr. Abbott expressed his personal opposition on same-sex marriage. In a video shared by BBC , the Australian Prime Minister said he respects the ongoing position for marriage equality but nevertheless does not share other people or other countries’ approval over the position. Abbott also reminded the public how approving same-sex marriage can bring about a “magnitude of cultural shift” in the country since it has never before been regarded as “an appropriate cultural norm.”

Black is reportedly not the only celebrity who has called on the Prime Minister to open up his eyes and ears on the public’s call for marriage equality. Actress and model Cara Delevingne also told Mr. Abbott to “listen to the world,” according to The Independent .

The Independent also reports that Mr. Abbott gained majority of the Coalition support within his party to block votes on marriage equality. The coalition won by 66 votes which quashed Australia’s Liberal MP Warren Entsch’s 33 votes. Warren reportedly has plans of introducing a private-members bill on Aug. 17 in order to legalise same-sex marriage in the country.
