It’s been 10 years since Kratos took down Ares and took the “God of War” moniker for him and his video game franchise. Kratos has been wreaking havoc on Sony consoles ever since, and now to celebrate the angry warrior’s 10th year, Sony has announced that the titular character will be a boss character in the upcoming “Shovel Knight” PS4 version later this month.

Announced on the PlayStation Blog, this is one of the many times Kratos has made an appearance in a different game. The character has also appeared in “Soul Calibur” and “Mortal Kombat” and is also one of the many playable fighters in “PlayStation All Stars.”

The announcement also revealed that Kratos would not be easy to find in “Shovel Knight.” The angry warrior will be a “Shovel Knight” secret boss, with the player having to discover a myriad of clues and secrets in order to take on the 8-bit version of the “God of War.” Once the appropriate secrets have been found, Kratos will reportedly appear in the game’s world map, where players can take him and his ferocious chain blades on.

It has also been teased that the “Shovel Knight” will learn a thing or two from Kratos. It hasn't been confirmed whether it’s a new skill or weapon, but it does give PlayStation 4 gamers an incentive to seek out and combat him. At the least, fans can probably expect an achievement or a trophy upon meeting and defeating him.

Seeing that Kratos is a PlayStation-only character, its obvious that he will only appear in the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of “Shovel Knight.” The Xbox One version of the game has players taking on the “Battle Toads,” who were created by Rare and are under Microsoft.

“Shovel Knight” is expected to come to Sony consoles this month on April 21 as noted by Polygon. It’s currently unknown as to when the game is expected to hit Xbox One, though it is still in development. The game is currently purchasable on Steam and has won numerous awards since it was released in June last year.
