Spain has warned that the Islamic State terrorists are planning to use Ebola as a bio-terrorism weapon to infect its enemies. This was based on secret intelligence uncovered from a plot wherein ISIS militants planned to "weaponize" the Ebola virus in a scary way.

Infected Needles

Britain's Daily Mail had carried a report that said the insurgent group may prod its supporters in the U.S. and the West to use Ebola as a biological weapon of terror by stabbing people with infected needles.

This was corroborated by Francisco Martinez, Spain's security secretary, while addressing the Parliament recently. He said Spain is in possession of some sensitive information gleaned from the conversations among jihadists, where they talked about carrying out "lone wolf" attacks, reports Natural News. Martinez is number two in the Interior Ministry of Spain.

In his speech, Martinez told the MPs that potential jihadis are making use of the Internet chat rooms to discuss such Ebola attacks. He said the conversations revealed that Islamic State insurgents had been using Internet as "an extension of the battlefield." The Spanish official said investigators had uncovered "many examples" of such threats to use Ebola as a weapon. He said the jihadists used to discuss ways and means of procuring the deadly Ebola virus and other poisonous materials to wage biological warfare, as part of their terror campaign, reported Spain's RTVE media.

Against USA

Martinez referred to one such conversation allegedly among ISIS sympathisers in September. There are militants that were chatting about "using Ebola as a poisonous weapon against the United States." The Spanish secretary also disclosed that a spokesman for the militant group had been online and urged his supporters to kill Westerners by any means. The spokesman then asked them to use "poisonous injections" as a possible way to infect people.

Russian news agency RT also quoted Martinez stating how the ISIS militants were using the internet for "threatening enemies; launching propaganda; preparing operations; exchanging information; imparting ideological training and also for recruiting new members and acquire finance."

U.S. Unaware

However, this intelligence is contradictory to the views expressed by Jeh Johnson, who is the secretary of U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He had discounted the possibility of ISIS weaponising Ebola. In his interaction with the Association of the United States Army early in October, Jonson was quoted as saying, "We have not come across any specific intelligence that ISIS is attempting to use any sort of disease virus to attack our homeland". But some analysts are suggesting that much of the ISIS "chatter," may have been planted by the American intelligence as part of counter terrorism measures to identify the real jihadists who are active with the Islamic group.
