Apple has long been rumoured to be set on introducing AMOLED display and dropping the power hungry LCD screen. A fresh report by KGI security analyst Ming-Chi Kuo indicates that the tech giant will drastically redesign iPhone in 2017.

Ming-Chi Kuo, who has a brilliant track record of predicting Apple’s next moves, said the Cupertino-based tech company might drop its classical aluminium casing. The revamped 2017 iPhone lineup will also supposedly adorn an all-glass chassis with AMOLED screen, as reported by 9to5Mac.

Kuo believes that Apple will let go its iconic aluminium design and embrace a new all-glass look to make the iPhones distinctly deferent from its competitors.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the new entirely glass-made iPhones will also feature an AMOLED panel, which is known for its brighter display. Last week, a report by SamMobile revealed that Apple has supposedly ordered 100 million 5.5-inch AMOLED display panels from Samsung for its 2017 iPhone lineup.

The agreement between Samsung and Apple is said to be around $2.59 billion (AU3.38 billion). Both companies have reportedly reached a consensus to maintain the deal for 3 years. However, earlier reports suggested that Apple would not use AMOLED displays on iPhones until 2018.

Last month, in another release note, Kuo said the 2017 iPhones will base its design elements from the iPhone 4, which adorns a glass front and back with stainless steel bezel. In the report, Kuo also predicted that next year, the refreshed Apple iPhone lineup may also adopt a curved display along with a curved glass body.

Apple has long been using the battery power-draining LCD display panels for iPhones. LCD displays use a backlight for more brightness across the display screen, which results in reduced battery life.

Active Matrix OLED (AMOLED) is a hybrid display technology which generates light upon electrical activation. The tech giant uses AMOLED display technology for its Apple Watch.
