Apple is rumoured to launch the iPhone 6S or the iPhone 7 as their next smartphone iteration. It is expected to bring on the Force Touch technology that is present on the Apple Watch and the trackpad of the new 12-inch MacBook.

The Force Touch feature enables the Apple Watch to differentiate between two kinds of tap gestures, light tap and hard press. The Wall Street Journal reports that the Force Touch technology may come implemented on the display of the forthcoming iPhone. On the Apple Watch, the technology is implemented all over its screen.

The Force Touch technology constitutes of “Force Sensors” that is able to distinguish between a light tap and a touch that requires harder press which is also referred to as force touch. The “taptic engine” includes a vibration motor that delivers tactile feedback required to sense the force touch.

The Apple iPhone 6 features a 4.7-inch screen and the iPhone 6 Plus houses a 5.5-inch screen. According to WSJ, the iPhone 6S or the iPhone 7 will retain the screen size and the resolution of the predecessor. Both the handsets are available in colours like silver, gold and grey. The side displays may feature virtual buttons instead of hardware buttons for various functions like gaming.
