Owners of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones may no longer purchase new smartphone case accessories if they wish to get a hold of the Apple iPhone 6s. The official Apple iPhone 6s accessories store has confirmed that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphone cases will fit the new iPhone 6s models.

Apple Insider reports that the official Apple cases will fit both of the iPhone 6 series and the iPhone 6s lineup even though the new model is a little thicker, taller and heavier than the iPhone 6 smartphone models. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are at 0.27-inches and 0.28-inches thick, respectively, while the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are at 0.28-inches and 0.29-inches thick.

The external changes made are assumed to be connected to the new casing material that makes the Apple smartphone more rigid. The Apple iPhone 6s lineup uses the 7000 series aluminum comparable to the alloy on the Apple Watch Sport.

BGR reports that Apple only lists the smartphone cases compatibility detail for its personal smartphone cases but Techno Buffalo claims that there are chances that third-party cases will still fit the smartphones. The consumers are still urged to check with the smartphone case makers to be certain.

Meanwhile, Apple has expanded the colour choices for the lineup of silicone smartphone cases. The consumers can choose from the 11 available colours of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s silicone cases and they are White, Charcoal Gray, Stone, Antique White, Blue, Turquoise, Midnight Blue, Lavender, Pink, Orange and Red.

As for the leather cases, the consumers can choose from the five colour options which are Midnight Blue, Saddle Brown, Rose Gray, Brown and Black. Apple’s iPhone 6s smartphone has a 4.7-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1334 x 750 pixels resolution.

The other features and specs include the iOS 9 operating system, 2 GB RAM, 12 MP primary camera, 5 MP secondary camera, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, hotspot, GPS, NFC, Bluetooth v4.1, USB v2.0, 1715 mAh non-removable Li-Po battery and internal storage capacities of 16/64/128 GB with no card slot available for memory expansion. The colour choices for the Apple iPhone 6s smartphone are Space Gray, Silver, Gold and Rose Gold.
