Smart text messaging will likely be included with the iPhone 6S on its release date this 2015. Scheduled or situational messages could become part of the next-generation iPhones if the technology discussed in a newly approved Apple patent is implemented soon.

First spotted by Business Insider, the patent document envisions the development of a smart phone messaging app that will make life easier for mobile device users. One core function is for iPhone owners to never miss important messages or to send out messages that are appropriate for a given situation.

The planned application will feature scheduled messaging that can be adjusted depending on the prevailing weather. In the scenario provided by the Business Insider report, a user can compose a text that arranges a meeting. If it is raining outside, the same message will only be deployed once the shower is over.

It appears that the scheduling accuracy will be achieved by programing the app to coordinate with other applications installed on a phone. For instance, in order to tell what the real-time weather is the messaging app will need to coordinate with the device’s weather app, a task that is automatic and works in the background.

The other elements that the app will consider when operating are time and location, which will determine the behaviour and arrival timing of sent messages. Texts that are designed as wake up calls will only be sent at a schedule time and will trigger alarms or notifications on recipient handsets.

In the same way, messages can also be instructed to open files on a recipient phone, a photo for example. “You can even send a message that refers to a photo stored on the recipient's device,” Business Insider said on its report.

The proposed messaging system is seen to further improve on existing messaging technologies. Apple’s patent is mostly to provide premium features that will be exclusive to the iPhone ecosystem.

However, there is no solid assurance that the discussed messaging app will be integrated with the expected iOS 9 rollout in the few months ahead. Likewise, only Apple can tell if the feature will debut with the iPhone 6S release date that likely will happen between September or October 2015.
