Apple is pegged to launch an upgraded version of iPhone 6 with the moniker iPhone 6S this year. Even though Apple has not released an official statement on it, the handset is pegged to arrive this fall.

According to G for Games, the so-called upgraded version of the iPhone 6 may not bring any improvement to the camera in terms of megapixels. The iPhone 6 features a very amazing 8 MP camera but instead of adding more megapixels on iPhone 6S, Apple is rumoured to feature the very same camera on the unannounced model, claims Jeff Pu, an analyst from Taipei’s Yuanta Securities Investment Consulting Co.

Largan Precision Co. is the major supplier for camera lens for Apple iPhones. Even in this year, the forthcoming iPhones will be featuring Largan lenses. The analyst claims that since the company is quite slow in migrating to high-resolution cameras on premium phones, Largan is foreseen to reach limited growth this year. He further states that the company will find it difficult to shoot up its stock price in the second half of the year.

Apple Insider claims that rather than concentrating on adding more megapixels, Pu predicts that premium smartphones like the iPhone will sport new camera features like optical image stabilisation and quicker autofocus. G for Games adds that iPhone 6S is speculated to house a dual-lens camera system. It is expected to deliver DSLR quality imagery.

If Apple brings OIS to iPhone 6S, it would for the first time to see optical zoom capabilities come to an iPhone. Moreover, the new camera system will be able to drive more light to the camera sensor that will help in shooting great quality images in low-lighting conditions.

Mac Rumors highlights that it was in 2011 that Apple had first brought an 8 MP camera on the iPhone 4S. The iPhone 5, the iPhone 5S, the iPhone 5C, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus handsets feature 8 MP rear camera. It says more number of camera megapixels can bring along undesired graininess to the photos. On the other side, the dual lens system can reduce graininess and shoot high quality photos, claims Forbes.
