iPhone 6 release date rumours are pointing to Sept. 10, which is barely a month away. An iPhone 5S is reportedly on its way, too. If you're shopping for a new phone, you'd probably want to wait a bit more if only for curiosity's sake. Find out more about Apple's next iPhone(s) and compare it to your other choices.

Other tech sites are reporting that Sept. 10 will only be for an unveiling event. The iPhone 6 or 5S release date will happen a month later. In a report by knowyourmobile.com, the new iPhone will hit the stores on Oct. 25.

Apple CEO Tim Cook had earlier said the tech giant had been looking forward to introducing new devices beginning in the fall through early 2014. If the iPhone 6 or 5S release date is really on Sept.10 or Oct. 25, it would not be surprising.

Here's a look into the rumours, dealbreakers and best features being reported online about the next iPhone(s).

Weibo, a Chinese social media site, reported the iPhone 5S will come in colours. It even "leaked" a photo of the new phone panel in gold. But another foreign language site, nowhereelse.fr, "republished" an image of the back of iPhone 5S in its classic grey hue. (Check out the slideshow for the published photos.)

Among the widely rumoured iPhone 6 or 5S best features are NFC connectivity and a fingerprint reader for the user's security. The latter has been unofficially confirmed by the Apple updates blog 9to5Mac. Citing Hamza Sood, the blog said the next iPhone will have a fingerprint sensor based on some code found on iOS 7 beta 4.

9to5Mac further reported the new iPhone will be fuelled by an A7 processor. There will also be some innovation on the current voice and camera features. Other reports seem certain the iPhone 6 or 5S will run on iOS 7.

Those looking for bigger upgrades innovations might be disappointed. The dealbreaker for some buyers is the iPhone 6 or 5S might not be too different from the current Apple flagship phone.

Apple has not announced the official name of its new phone. But the rumours are unstoppable as usual. In fact, there is another popular rumour about a cheaper model, the iPhone 5C. For phone shoppers, it might be a good idea to wait for a month or two. The more choices you have, the less chance there is for buyer's remorse later.
