Apple in the Habit of Releasing Their Products Ten Days After the Announcement of the Release Date.
Many fans are gathering outside the Fifth Avenue, Apple Store in New York City. These are not fans that will die to get their hands on the handset. These are people who were paid by Apple to camp outside the store before its launch.
Actress and model, Moon Ray and her husband Jason were paid by Apple to wait outside their flagship store. The couple have travelled all the way from Mississippi to New York to wait in line for the iPhone 6 and they will also promote a new iOS called Video Medicine. This iOS will allow patients to have telemedicine sessions with their doctors. Ray opined that the idea to launch this iOS in New York was a good move, as half the population of New York do not own a car and find it difficult to commute to a hospital.
In a video interview with U.S.A. Today, Ray said that they were being compensated for their time and food is being provided along with their camping gear.
Brian Ceballo and Joseph Cruz, cousins of the celebrity couple are also waiting in line for the iPhone 6. For the last 5 years Apple was paying them to wait outside their store. The longest they said they camped was 15 days outside the Glass Cuba Apple store last August 31. Ceballo and Brian arrived before Ray and her husband to break the existing world record of 18 days.
Apple is always in the habit of releasing their latest product 10 days after they announce the date of release. This could mean that Cruz and Ceballo will wait in line for iPhone 6 for 19 days. They have already made $ 1,250 by giving up the first spot to Ray and her husband. Apart from this, they have received compensation from BuyBackWorld.com. The company has provided them with food, camping gear and the money they need to buy the iPhone 6.
When questioned if she really wanted to buy the iPhone 6, Ray admitted that she never owned one before and she is excited about the sapphire glass.
Ray also said that it was worth waiting for and she was excited about it as they were being paid for it and also that it is a free phone and they could pick any phone they wanted.
