Apple's announcement and release of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus triggered mixed reactions from the market including the Android consumer base.

Despite strong support over the device and Apple running out of initial supply to satisfy pre-orders, Android fans are still not convinced about the innovative nature and value of the iPhone 6 series. According to a number of Android users, Apple has copied many features from Google's platform with some dating back as far as two years ago. There are also allegations that Galaxy Note 4 is similar to the iPhone 6 series with one of the two copying the other. The question now boils down if Apple can continue to be resilient against such allegations.

A smartphone's value does not just boil down to plain technical specs. It also deals with the general functionality and how components work together - if they seamlessly complement each other. Nonetheless, Ars Technica reviews editor Ron Amadeo did point out some iPhone 6 specs which may not be as groundbreaking as many consumers would have believed otherwise. According to BGR, Amadeo, has been specializing in Android views. The editor compared the iPhone 6's line of specs with Google's 2012 Nexus 4. Similar specs identified between the iPhone and the Nexus 4 include:

· 4.7-inch screen

  • 750p resolution
  • NFC payments
  • Notifications actions
  • Widgets
  • 3rd-party keyboards
  • Typing suggestions
  • Cross-app communication
  • Cloud photo backup
  • Battery stats

Nonetheless, several sources counter that the iPhone 6 does have features not available on devices like the Nexus 7 including the Touch ID fingerprint scanner, 128GB storage option and 64-bit processor. For those undecided yet whether the iPhone 6 is a good investment, CNET comes up with top android alternatives to consider. According to the report, top Android contenders include Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One M8 and LG G3. Upcoming Android smartphones, on other hand, to consider over iPhone 6 include second generation Motorola Moto X, Sony Xperia Z3 and Galaxy Note 4 with Note Edge.

According to CNET, the Samsung Galaxy S5 offers functional features including Kids Mode for additional safeguarding. HTC One M8 comes with an elegant design that can rival iPhone's aesthetic appeal. Sprint users can also access exclusive Harman Kardon edition. LG G3 comes with serious power running on a 2.5GHz quad-core Krait 400 Snapdragon 801 processor. The Android and iPhone showdown continues until the end of the year with Android poised to release a series more. The ultimate choice boils down to the consumer's standard of excellent user experience.
