Latest reports claimed that Apple's iPhone 5S and Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will share the same release date.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is expected to make its debut in the third quarter of this year. Rumours point to possible September release date. There are speculations that Samsung will hold the announcement of the Note 3 on the annual IFA event in Berlin. The said launch will allow Samsung to maximize its profits and to complete the tried-and-tested September product cycle of the Galaxy Note series.

The cheaper iPhone 5S, on the other hand, is rumoured to sport a plastic casing, 4-inch screen display, dual core processor and 8-megapixel camera.

The Apple chief Time Cook also dropped several hints that the upcoming iPhone 6 and 5S will be released later this year. Cook said that no new products are to launch before the end of the year.

Cook also subtly dented rumours that the iPhone 5S could launch as early as June. "Our teams are hard at work on some amazing new hardware, software, and services that we can't wait to introduce this fall and throughout 2014."

However, both Apple and Samsung neither confirmed nor denied the rumours surrounding its devices.

Due to close launch dates, consumers are offered with more options when it comes to smartphones. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is rumoured to receive a major overhaul and will feature amazing specs such as a metal chassis for body, eight core processor paired with 3GB of RAM, 13 MP camera with dual functionality, and massive screen display. Meanwhile, the low cost iPhone 5S is rumoured to sport a plastic body and some of the specs of iPhone 4.

Consumers who want a powerful smartphone that offers the perks of both tablet and smartphone should choose Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Others who long wanted an Apple device as well as those first time users should go for iPhone 5S.
